Week 3: Quiz

Binder check

HW: Read p.100-185 of School Trip by Tuesday.

I walked into class, and I sat down while eating a pear. I took out my Binder Reminder and wrote the agenda. After, Alex got up and read his blog. His blog was long, but suddenly I saw that he chose me to be the next blogger. While Ms. Nakada was editing Alex's blog, she told Zack to step outside. Then, Ms. Nakada started reviewing the notes for our quiz. Zack kept rubbing his lips, I wonder why. We then had to take a quiz, so I sat back down at my regular seat and the first thing I heard was Aiden complaining about something. All of the sudden, it started smelling like diapers and sweat. We finished the quiz, and then we had to pack up. That's all we did.

Week 3: Lines

HW: Read p. 100-185 of School Trip by Tuesday.

Today, we all walked into Ms. Nakada's classroom, and I was scared that I was going to get chosen to do the blog, but I tried to forget about it, because I had to write down the agenda, and then I tried to calm my nerves with the video Ms. Nakada played before the blog corrections.

Then, Sandra got up and went to read her incredibly long blog to the class, and after about two minutes of reading; she chose me to do it, because I apparently found it, "humorous" that she got chosen to do the previous blog, which I was so confused about, because I wasn't even laughing at all, so I don't know what she was thinking.

After that, we began to do our lines, and Jason decided to distract me from doing the blog, but at least Bennett gave me advice on what to do. While that was happening, we were cutting and putting our lines in our English notebooks, and Zack was struggling to put the lines in his notebook, so Ms. Nakada went over there to give him some, "friendly advice" on how to put it in.

Then, Ms. Nakada began giving a short lesson about what an analogy was and what the lines were about, I kept staring at Sandra because she chose me for the blog, which I still can't believe why she did, but it's whatever.

Later on, Ms. Nakada and the class reviewed New Kid, and she talked about Straight Outta Compton and N.W.A. and then Zack asked, "What does it mean?" referring to what N.W.A. meant, but Ms. Nakada thought he wanted somebody to say the n-word. Then, she kept on giving the lesson which Malakai found boring, and then I heard Sandra and Rain laughing for no reason. Then, we packed up and headed out for lunch. P.S: Rain you're going to be the next blogger.

SCHOOL TRIP

HW - Read p. 100-185 of SCHOOL TRIP by Monday.

When we walked into class it was pretty quiet, I was worried because I thought I was late and so I sat down very quickly. After that, I figured out I wasn't late. Then, Ryan read her blog. She read one line that said, "Aiden told me to make my blog long so that we could waste time", and then she didn't make her blog long. So, I'm going to fulfill Aiden's wishes, this is going to be a somewhat long blog (not too long because Ms. Nakada's friends with my mother).

After I decided I was going to make this a long blog, we started to write in our English books. I was stressed because I didn't realize that I had to do the blog and write in my book at the same time, but I managed. Then, Malakai got in trouble because he kept on laughing and Ms. Nakada was over it. Ms. Nakada decided she was on her last straw so she walked over to him and gave him a stern talk. I guess you could say he really buttered her biscuit. Then, the question Ms. Nakada had us write down was, "What do you think about school?", my answer was very short and bland. I wrote, "Um I hate school", well because that was the truth. The only person I know that likes school is Demetrius and well that's because he's Demetrius, he's an odd fellow. A lot of people answered similar to me. Ryan said, "I hate school because it's stressful."

Then Lucas started talking about how he ran over a kid. I was very confused because I mean what? Then I remembered how the same thing happened at my old school, John Burroughs. Basically, my friend and I were crossing the street and he jay-walked after I told him to cross at the crosswalk. He didn't listen to me and some lady who was on her phone, hit him and he was in the hospital for a bit and I was concerned, but I also said "I told you so" (I didn't actually say that but let's pretend I did). Then, Ms. Nakada yelled at Lucas and said he seems very entertained at the fact he ran over a child. After that, ZACK said he saw Lucas laughing in his car after he ran over a child and everyone started laughing.

By the way, ZACK is intentionally spelled in all caps because he decides to capitalize my name every time I'm written about. ZACK even says my name as if it were in caps too, he always pronounces my name like this: "SAND - RUH". He also says it with an impeccable amount of sass because he's a sassy man. Then, I saw Alex's reflection in the bluetooth speaker on Ms. Nakadas desk and I started laughing because it warped his face and he looked funnier than he does on the daily (I'm kidding he's not chopped). After that, a song started playing and it was very melancholic. Then ZACK started talking about ICE abductions. Then, Zoe and ZACK got called out for laughing. Zoe ratted him out and said "ZACK keeps talking", and someone by me whispered, "Like always."

I then looked to the schedule on my right and I saw we leave school at 2:09pm. I was confused. Didn't it use to end at like 1:57? Why would they extend it? Then, I came to terms with the fact that I might need glasses or that Ms. Nakada needs a new computer desperately. I thought this because the laptop she gave me to write on was different shades of white on the screen. The top was a grey-ish white and then the middle was very bright and very white. Then, I was thinking about who I was going to pick to do the next blog. I decided that I'm going to pick Alex because for some reason, he thought it was humorous that I got picked for the blog.

Then, ZACK asked if he could get a tissue and Ms. Nakada said, "Did you already write down a line from the song?". I assumed she asked this because she's trying to get him in the class. For some reason, ZACK is always blowing his nose. Last year, Ms. Everts would always make jokes about how she's out of tissue because ZACK was always blowing his nose. Then, Ms. Nakada asked ZACK why he had so many tissues in his hand, he replied with, "I have allergies". Then, he walked past me and made an odd noise, then Ms. Nakada said, "What'd he say?" and I replied with, "Nothing", and she said, "He just made a weird noise?" and I said, "Yes exactly.", she rolled her eyes and said "Oh ZACK" and sighed.

Then, somebody behind me dropped all of their papers and they started cursing. Whoever it was, got called a potty-mouth by Ms. Nakada. Then, Rain started singing a very soothing tune, very loudly, it reminded me of when she sang "S.D.I.Y.B.T" in a group chat with Alex and I, and it was oddly good. Rain is actually quite a great singer, she sings very perfectly and she should most definitely sing a harmonious tune for this class one day. Then, I pictured her face while I was saying this and I started laughing, I imagined her getting rosy-red, all flushed, and smiling while covering her face. Then, ZACK got in trouble for looking outside the window. That's about all that happened in class, I just revised this the rest of the period.

New Kid  Class Act Review

HW: Read p.100-185 of School Trip  by Monday

We started off the class, with watching this video on taking deep breaths. Then, we started to do blog corrections. Ms. Nakada had been calling on people to help her with the blog corrections, but Aiden and Zach kept interrupting. After that, Ms. Nakada had asked if anyone had to retake the test. While people were retaking their test, Ms. Nakada had collected the personal writing process papers. After that, we took out our table of contents to do our weekly grammar, quote, question, song, and lines. While Ms. Nakada was walking around class, Aiden whispered to me, to ask me if I could make this blog long so we could waste time in class. Ms. Nakada then walked to the back of the class to talk to Lena. Next, after we finished our grammar, quote, and question, we took out our books which were either New Kid or Class Act. Then, Ms. Nakada assigned an individual chapter for all of us to read. After everyone finished, we did a review of those books. We reviewed Jordan's first day perspectives or his general perspective of the class and the students. Then, the bell rang. Later, after that, some kids stayed to finish their tests. That's it for today's blog.

Ms. Nakada sent Sandra down to somewhere. Then, once we finished, I started reading the School Trip book. Then, someone laughed at someone screaming, and Ms. Nakada told them that's wrong. After that, we started doing the quiz. After we finished taking the quiz, we read School Trip. That was it.

So Ms. Nakada had to read the blog then, Ms. Nakada passed out poems. And  made us glue it to our journal and started reading it and we start to take notes on the poem. Then, Ms. Nakada saw two people passing notes to each other. Then, One of the notes said "I think Isaac likes me." and after Ms. Nakada saw one of the girls writing a note again saying "she is so pmo" which is mean and we after, we worked on the writers workshop and then, we packed up to leave.

Week 1: lines

HW: Read School Trip p. 1 - 99.

We started with a take a minute meditating video. Then, Zack did his blog. Then, Ms. Nakada revised it, I think. Ms. Nakada started explaining the difference between our, are, and hour.

Then, Ms. Nakada started cutting a paper. She glued it into her notebook. Now, she's passing out papers. It was the poem "Wild Geese" by Mary Oliver. Demetrius started talking.

Ms. Nakada started reciting a short poem that she made long.  She started talking about DEEP poems.  Zack started reciting speech and he kept getting quieter. Jackson then read the poem and he turned really red. Then, Nylah recited the end.       Bennet started laughing.

Ms. Nakada began lecturing about the poem. Ms. Nakada said if you walked on your knees you'd be bloody.

Uh, Aidan walked in in the middle of class and interrupted Ms. Nakada. He had to redo what he was saying. Zack said he wanted to slap an animal. Kaiden said something. Sandra decided to use the restroom, so she did.    Zack and Jackson started laughing and then Ms. Nakada forced Zack to move his seat. Ms. Nakada said some bird stuff.    Bennet said something.

Aidan FINALLY came back and right after, SANDRA came back. Rain said stuff about repetition. Aidan asked for a poem. Ms. Nakada said she was old and she punctuates when she's writing texts. She showed us her Personal Writing Process as an example.

Ms. Nakada said something about chat GPT and people said Zack.  Bennett told me to write like he did, but that's cheating so that's a felony.  Then, we were ordered by the Ms. Nakada to exit the perimeter. And that's all for today!

Short Autobiographies

Writers Workshop

HW Read p.1-99 of School Trip by Monday.

We started off with the take a minute video. Then, we listened to a song that I barely could hear, because Nylah and Ryan kept talking. After that, we had to write what the song was about. Nobody was really talking, except Ryan and Nylah, but I still did my work. Then, I said my favorite line in the song. Solomon laughed at me. So did Nylah and Ryan. Now we are doing the short autobiographies. Sandra was laughing so much, but it went well. Rain kept making jokes, and it was so funny. We went back to our writer's workshop notes. Jackson kept answering questions, like the good student he is and that's everything that happened today.

I came into class on time and then sat down.

Josiah read his blog and then Ms. Nakada corrected it. She then explained the board of things that'll tell us what's going on that week. Then some kid screamed in the hallway and Ms. Nakada went out in the hallway for a moment. Then the office called and picture day forms were handed out. She then wrote on her notebook, "Week one: grammar, Quote, song, lines P1" explaining some grammar things. Then she wrote the quote on the board, "To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you into something else is the greatest accomplishment. Ralph Waldo Emerson" she then asked the class what they thought it meant. Then she explained why she wrote the stuff sloppy and in pencil because she didn't want people to copy her. She explained how the world is trying to make you fit in but you should be true to yourself. She then asked that people tell the people at they're table they're hopes. And then the day was over.

It's the third day of school, and Ms. Nakada started to say the agenda for today. While she started to read the agenda, Zack and Jackson where touching each other in the back. After we stop them from touching each other, the teacher started to do blog corrections from Friday's blog. Then, she gave the left side of the room their English books and told us to write our name on the books. After, she told us to get out our notebooks for English and do our first notes, which are reader's workshop.

While she was teaching us what readers do and stuff, she came around the classroom handing out the new School Trip books. Then, she made us read the books for the remainder of class. After, she told us to pack up because the bell was going to ring, and I think that's it for today.

The second day of school is upon us. We came into class ready to learn. (Well, at least some of us.) We started class by writing down the agenda in our binder reminders and doing our "Take a minute" as a class. After that, we jumped into class.

Ms. Nakada passed out our name tags and gave us a small amount of time to finish them. Once we finished up our name tags, we took out our Course Outline papers, and Ms. Nakada read the first day blog for us. She had to stop a couple of times because Zack decided to talk.

Ms. Nakada began walking around the classroom shortly after we started writing, and after she chose today's blogger. She once again has to talk to Zack and is currently dealing with his antics.

People are writing down the letters to Ms. Nakada now, and some of us are already done! Most of us are hard at work making our first day letters (even though it's the second day.) Sadly, some of us just don't want to put in the work. Anyways, class is going smoothly, and everyone is doing great!

That's a wrap on today's blog.

Somehow, after all of these weeks, it was the first day of school, again! My fourth period came into class, and all of my period four eighth graders settled into new seats. I welcomed everyone, and students wrote down the agenda. Then, we took a minute. B.R.E.A.T.H.E.

I passed out the course outlines, and we read through it together. We discussed materials for the class, rules, grades, and keys for success. Then, we went over the syllabus and all that we will be reading, writing, and learning this semester.

Then, we watched a quick video about lettering, and everyone started a name card.

We discussed the blog, and, let's be honest, this class came up with a brilliant blog name, so here we are.

I read my first day letter, and everyone got started writing their own letters. And that was it! First day of fourth period check, done!
