SCHOOL TRIP A.C.E.
HW: Read pages 1-84 of The Outsiders by Monday.
We get to class, take a minute, and check Asal's blog. I then realized that I'm one of the last people left to be chosen, so I started to panic. Asal picks me and I begrudgingly sit down. Then, as I started writing, Rachel got his phone taken by Ms. Nakada, and he got pouched. After, we did the grammar on verb tense and Ms. Nakada read the poem by Maya Angelou. Ms. Nakada then told us about Creatober, where we make something each day. We then started to work on School Trip A.C.E. But Zack and Solomon were being hooligans, and throwing School Trip books at each other. We get back to work and write about chapter 7. I look over at Lucas, and he points at a random panel in the book and starts laughing. I look at him confused, and he just keeps laughing. We get our last School Trip A.C.E. right before the end of class. Then, Ms. Nakada got mad because of our class not saying thank you to her, so everyone said thank you. We all packed up, and the bell rang.

week 7: Quiz
School Trip A.C.E.
HW: Finish books by Monday 9/29/25
When I walked into class with Valentina, I could tell she was going to pick me for the next blog, but I didn't mind at all. I sat down at the table in the front, organized my supplies, and wrote down the agenda. We got our English notebooks, and started to re- read our notes for the quiz. I kept hearing my name getting called. By the way, I didn't give a high five to Val because she had never asked me to do that.
Ms. Nakada told us about all the things that we shouldn't do during the quiz. Bennett came up to the front, and sat in my seat to charge his computer. We started the quiz; before I finished, some people in the back got in a bit of trouble because they were talking. Bennett got up, and walked away. Ms. Nakada was checking Binder Reminders. Stuart or whatever his name is started to play with his pencils, and notebook. Solomon told Stuart to get off of his phone even though he was not using it. Solomon and Stuart started talking to each other with their hands. Stuart flipped me off. Stuart pretended that Kate was a ghost. He was drawing on his pencil with another pencil. Start ripped the A.C.E. prompts. He kept waving his A.C.E. in the air as he called Ms. Nakada, Ms. Painter.
We got our portfolios, and got our papers back. Solomon said that "I'm cooked". Stuart asked me if I liked his dog that he drew on his folder; I said no because it didn't look like one, and then he said it's a cat.
The bell rang and people went out of the class. I couldn't write much because I had to do my A.C.E.

Week 7: Lines
SCHOOL TRIP A.C.E
At first, I arrived at Ms. Nakada's class, rushing because changing in the lockers in a minute is not easy at all. When I finally reached the class, I showed Ms. Nakada my book project, and she told me to go put it in the back. After that, I walked to my seat, I zoned out for a moment, but I noticed that a lot of people in the back were wearing gloves for some weird reason. I ignored it though, instead I focused on the blog since it was Kate. Her blog was really good, but then came the scariest question. Ms. Nakada asked her who she wanted to choose for the next blog, Kate asked who was left to choose. So Ms. Nakada told everyone that whoever hasn't gone yet raised their hand. I had to raise my hand. I was begging Kate to not choose me, but that was exactly what she did, and then I threatened to tickle her. I, of course, suffered before standing up and asking Ms. Nakada how to do everything. Then, I took my things and sat down on the table in front, Rachel of course had to laugh at me since he's so rude.
After a while, when we got to the lesson, Ms. Nakada handed me a small paper with a poem called "Invisible Fish." Ms. Nakada was talking about the metaphors and meanings of the poem. Then, I heard Rachel ask if "stone" and "floor" rhymed, everyone said no. When we got done with the poem, we got to the School Trip notes. I was zoning out so bad, my eyes wanted to close by themselves. We started talking about the tips to insult someone and not sound rude. After that, we moved on from chapter 5 to chapter 6, and it was about dreams. Ms. Nakada showed us a page of the book that had a place called Sacre Coeur. Rachel said it was the Taj Majal. Me and Asal looked at him with our jaws almost on the floor. We were absolutely bamboozled, it was literally in France. Some kids were saying that they were being racists. One of them said someone called him a Nazi. One of the kids got a lecture from Ms. Nakada about racism. I honestly don't remember the names of the rest of my classmates. Then I asked Asal to high-five me and she didn't trust me for some reason, she said she was scared, and I don't know why since I'm so nice. After all of that, Ms. Nakada handed us some papers for the next A.C.E for these chapters. Finally, the bell rang and we all went to lunch.

BOOK PROJECT GALLERY WALK.
Take a Minute, blog/corrections
Everyone was in their seats by the time I had walked into Ms. Nakada's class. I took out my books and wrote down the agenda. Demetrius was behind me, making a horrible whistling noise. He was trying to amplify the horrible sound by putting his fingers in his mouth. (He was failing, so it sounded like a dying bird.) I tapped Rachel on the shoulder, but he has this weird thing of ignoring me and pretending that I'm actually a ghost. I just went back to rummaging through my pencil case. I loosely started drawing a sprite I needed for a project, when I heard my name. Kaiden got up from the blogger's seat and pointed to me.
"Kaiden who are you choosing for the blog?" I heard Demetrius behind me.
"Kate." He walked by, and I felt something like panic shoot through me. What do I do? Do I bring my computer? Should I pack up?
Ms. Nakada asked Kaiden himself who he wanted for the blog, and I expected my name, but I still hoped that it was someone else that he would choose.
Yesterday, there was a discussion about an old teacher named Mr. Mura. At the mentioning of his name, I could hear people mumbling about him. Apparently, he was a creep whose actions were spreading faster than this cold that's been tagging all my friends.
Week 7 Song lines
I listened to the song Ms. Nakada started playing for the class, and the podcast told us about how this multicultural beat was so catchy that even Nazis and White supremacists were dancing along. But I mean, who wouldn't dance? It's a great song.
When Ms. Nakada asked what the song was about, I could hear Rachel stammering for a quick answer. She explains that it was a Mexican folk song in a Rock & Roll cover, and also has a beat from Africa. She also finds it ironic how K.K.K. members were dancing along.
Ms. Nakada called on Zack, and he sounded incredibly tired. "What cultures were included in the song La Bamba?" Zack mumbled, thinking for a second. "America... Africa..." He paused. "Brazil.." I could hear students stifling a laugh. A bit later, she pulled up YouTube, to show us the most popular version of La Bamba. Everyone just relaxed for the bit that the song was playing.
Book Project, Gallery Walk
Ms. Nakada handed out little slips of paper for us to grade our book project. After everyone finished writing through the grading description, she had us clear our desks to show our book projects. This part is for the gallery.
I could feel hunger clawing at my stomach as kids showed off their baked goods. Rachel kept lingering over my piece, and saying "It's really good, but I don't know who did this!" Because he refuses to acknowledge that I am of existence. So, Rachel got his karma by some unknown entity untying his shoes. He tried to avoid it, and he was just squirming in a corner. I walked over to Aiden, and he explained how his treat was a marshmallow covered in chocolate and crackers. I asked if he was willing to give it to me at the end of the period, and he nodded.
I went back to my seat to continue writing the blog, and waited for the bell to ring for lunch.

Reader's / Writer's Workshop
HW: Finish Books by Monday 9/28.
We walked into Ms. Nakada's class, writing the agenda in our binder reminders. We did take a minute before doing the blog. Mark walked up to the front of the class, read his blog and afterwards, we corrected it. Ms. Nakada made us stand up and called peoples names and told them to sit down. I was one of the people who was still standing up, and Mark chose me.
We wrote down the Week 7 Grammar - Quote - Question in our English Notebooks. Ms. Nakada asked if we knew how roman numerals worked which most of the class did in-fact know. We learned more about compound & complex sentences, Ms. Nakada also taught us about Interrogative (?), Declarative (.), & exclamatory (!). STUART started talking about lunch and how he would bring "McDonald's¨ for lunch.
We moved on to the quote section, and Ms. Nakada asked who Frida Kahlo was and Aiden said she is a Mexican-Artist and Ms. Nakada told us about an accident that happened to Frida which was the reason why she was in a wheelchair. We were shown arts from Frida Kahlo and the most offsetting one in my opinion was the "Girl with Death Mask."
The class started to read School Trip 103-107 and they talked about the architecture & how the buses are like. We started to talk about idioms such as "Piece of cake" and "Killing two birds with one stone" and for some reason, Stuart started talking about a mouse and Zack started talking about geese with one stone. The entire class all said that Zack and Stuart couldn't be trusted with a rented scooter, and we started to guess who also was called out for not being trusted with a rented scooter in the other English periods.
Lucas called Stewart our for apparently flipping him off which had them both laughing. Zach started talking about a brown leaf being in someone's hair which was debunked by another person. We started to talk about a teacher (Mr. Mura) and how he was creepy. We packed up, the bell rang, and we got ready for lunch, and we left.

Then, Ms. Nakada started going over the poem for the quiz. Then, Solomon disturbed the class and got sent out of the room. People in the back of the class were passing inappropriate notes, after which we started doing the quiz. Then, Joseph started cheating on the quiz by looking at Jason's screen. Then, we packed up and went to lunch.

Today we walked into class, and I took my seat. Solomon was trying to tell me that I was going to be the new blog writer. I tried to tell him no, but here I am. After that, we got our notebooks out, and today's song was called "Soy Yo." When watching the song Lucas said to move my head because he could not see. When, we finished the song Ms. Nakada showed us the lyrics in English. Then, Rachel started talking about how it was about being mean. Right after that he started talking about yo yo's. Then, we talked about the tone. Right after that Rachel and Demetrius would not take their hoods off. Then, Ms. Nakada told Zack to step outside because he said something I think. Then, we when to our school trip notes. Soon, after Aidan and Mark were fighting about racist things. (I am not sure that is what I heard). Soon after, Rain and Sandra were fighting with Rachel, kind of, and saying things that should not be said in class. I asked Rachel if he was okay, and he said no. Right after, Ms. Nakada came back in the room, and she said we were on the wrong page. Then, Rachel said something about not punching a crying baby on the plane. Some time later, we some how got to talking about plane crashes, but we got back on track and talked about the plane ride. Soon after, Ms. Nakada said we are almost caught up with the other classes and asks if we like everything the same or different. Everyone said different. Also, it has been so long, and Zack just back like after 10 minutes. Now, we are in the last five minutes of class, and we are still working. I started talking about how everything is the same. Now, it's time pack up and go to lunch. I am just going to say this I did not like writing this.

HW: Read another 100 pages of your book by Monday 9/22.
We started the day by getting our stuff down in the agenda. Then, Malakai went on to read his blog. He said he wouldn't choose me, but he's a liar sometimes. After that, we moved on to the question of the week which was: "What are some ways to celebrate Latin heritage month?" Most of the conversation was about the difference between the words Latino and Latina and I'm pretty shocked that some people still don't know the difference. Ms. Nakada then talked asked how do you celebrate Latin Heritage Month and do you celebrate. A lot of people responded.
Right before we moved on to the next thing Lucas said my name and said fist bump and did whatever the snail thing is to me which is totally not funny by the way. Aside from that the next thing we did, was the A.C.E. Most people already finished, so the time was really used for the kids that haven't finished yet. While the time was going by, Zack came up for the fourth time and, for some reason, was trying to make Ms. Nakada say 6-7. The rest of the time Ms. Nakada used it to ask each student what type of project and what book they are doing it on. I kinda ran out of time, and the bell rang. That's what happened today.

Once we got in class, Ms. Nakada gave us letters on where to sit. Once we sat down, we got our binder reminders and wrote down the agenda for today. While we were writing down the agenda, Ms. Nakada played a video. While we were watching the video, I kept on hearing people call out Rachel's name during the video. After Demetrius read his blog, we corrected his blog from all of the mistakes he had made. After correcting Demetrius's blog, we moved on to our note books and opened to the table of context and wrote down our week 6 Grammar, quote, question, song, and line. Rachel kept talk about some guy named Cristo Hernandez and kept asking Ms. Nakada if he was tall or not. We watched a video showing us who Cristo Hernandez was, and Ms. Nakada asked if anyone knew him. Rachel said he was from Sesame Street and someone had said he was from Elmo Street. We started talking about how the supreme court ruled about how I.C.E. can racially profile anyone who speaks Spanish or anyone who speaks another language. After that, Ms. Nakada wrote down the quote for today which is, "Orgulloso means proud in Spanish. I am orgulloso being Latino, orgulloso being from Mexican, and orgulloso being me." - Cristo Hernandez.
After we finished with the grammar and quote, Ms. Nakada told us to turn to the next page to talk about our book projects. She gave us papers to glue in our notebooks. She told us we had to read about 1 million words by the end of the school year. Ms. Nakada explained to us about the project and told us we have to be at 500,000 words by the end of winter break. Ms. Nakada chose a bunch of people to read each bullet point of the paper. Ms. Nakada had asked Solomon what was happening because he was laughing. After we talked about the book project, we all packed up, and that is what we did today.

We started our day off by sitting down in our seats, and Katarina started reading her blog. When she finished, Ms. Nakada corrected her blog, and I told Kaiden "Watch she asks, Nylah or Ryan who to pick and it's going to be me."
Then, Kaiden said, "Yo bro hide under the table."
That didn't work because I still got picked. A couple minutes later, while I was trying to brainstorm, the perfect thing happens: Stuart's phone went off in the middle of class. Ms. Nakada was quick to pouch it, and Stuart kept saying, "It was in my backpack" and he kept saying, "I didn't take it out."
Then, Ms. Nakada replied and said, "It's supposed to be off," and it got pouched.
Meanwhile, Sandra and Alex started saying something about ops, and Jason called my name and said "Demetrius look at this."
I said, "What is that?"
He said, "It's a car," but to me it looked like a horse.
Stuart started giving me suggestions for my blog, so yes, I had to put it in this blog.
There was a moment of silence.
And that's all for this blog, because I had to take a test.

On the way back to the classroom, I saw Mr. Branda. I said hi, but he ignored me. Once we got back to class, we filled out our binder reminders and took a minute. After, Lucas then read his blog, and, as always, Ms. Nakada corrected it. Once we were done correcting it Lucas decided to pick me to write the next blog. Then, we took out our notebooks and looked over what we did for the week. Meanwhile, Rachel was drawing on his hand with a highlighter and Zack was doing something weird with the candy he bought at the book fair, so Ms. Nakada told him to throw it away. Then, we got started on looking at the lines. The lines were about praying this week. We talked about how praying is not competitive and is simple. When we were done looking at the poem, we took out our School Trip books to look over chapter 3. Then, Ms. Nakada said that Zack would change ounce he gets to high school. Next, Ms. Nakada asked a couple questions which we answered. Finally, the bell rang while we were reading, so we had to quickly pack up. That was our day.

Rachel kept on saying answers aloud. I was distracting Sandra, so I had to move back to my seat. Ms. Nakada is asking Demetrius about a computer he was using in the gym. Suddenly, Bennett started talking about how his dad wearing swimming trunks when Ms. Nakada brought up what parents wear that is embarrassing. We were talking about School Trip and taking notes for awhile. Stuart was answering the questions. After this, everyone who didn't have a book to read came to the back. First off, we started reading RACHEL'S blog. (Yes I'm going to keep calling you that) It was really long so it took a while to edit. After that, Rachel picked me to do the blog, and, of course, Zack started laughing. Anyways, after finishing editing Rachel's blog we took out our English notebooks. We wrote down our question for the week and had some time to come up with three answers for it. Then, Ms. Nakada gave me a heart attack and told me we only had two minutes left in class when I only wrote two sentences down for the blog, but in reality we had ten minutes left. (She looked at the old schedule). Ms. Nakada then told us to take out our Chromebooks and search up what books we want to read this year.
Ms. Nakada had to get mad at Zack again! She told Zack that he was talking about something that's not very school appropriate, and everyone started laughing.
(A couple of days ago Zack told me not to include him in the blog, so, of course, I'll be very kind to include him in the blog!) That's all that happened today.

HW: Read 100 pages of a book by Monday.
The day started normally where we would watch a relaxing video. Then, we got straight to work. I heard giggles around the class. I didn't know, why so I tried to ignore it. Zack was being Zack when, Ms. Nakada asked what the video was about. Zack said it was about water, mountains and oceans, but it was actually about the water cycle.
Ms. Nakada asked a question that nobody answered, and I could Ms. Nakada got a little bit concerned how nobody knew what starts a sentence and to be honest it was fair. Then, we learned about a compound sentence, (Its when a simple sentence , conjunction or ; simple sentence) it was very educational. After we found the definition of conjunction, we started naming examples and for once Zack actually answered something correctly. Then, we learned about FANBOYS for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so that is what FANBOYS is. The weird thing about class, is someone kept answering and each time they didn't learn at all so Ms. Nakada gave up and called on someone else to answer from the same side of the room. They also answered incorrectly, so she talked to the other side of the room, and they got it right. I think one side of the room isn't really paying attention, and no, I'm not trying to be mean. I'm on their side also.
We kept learning, and it was chill for basically the rest of class. Then, Ms. Nakada said something about her daughter as usual. Then, we talked about examples about living about the French. Solomon was confused when literally there was a book in front of him so all he had to do was just check the book, but did he? Even after Ms. Nakada told him to? I think not. Then, someone ate during class and got called to the hall, to be honest, it wasn't really even shocking. Then, I realized I forgot to write my notes about what Ms. Nakada wrote though. What did I do?
I kept typing about the day. Then, we talked about working to live and living to work it was pretty deep to me. After that, it started to get boring nothing to type about. Ms. Nakada made us read 10 books and its gonna be hard. We have to finish before the semester is over, and I'm not sure I'll be able to finish. Everyone has to get 500,000 words by the end of this semester.
Zack showed people the book he read cutting off the teacher. People started putting on makeup and Ms. Nakada quickly shut it down. Then, Ms. Nakada helped me by making everyone talk about the books they read, and it helped me since I was stuck on what to write. Thanks, Ms. Nakada. Nobody talked about anything interesting. Then, we were talking about books and it turned to piggy then Roblox then elephants I was confused. Then Zack was being annoying I could tell Ms. Nakada wanted to slap him but, happily she didn't P.S. Zoe, it's gonna be you who has to make a blog. Don't call me Rachel next time!

After that, we wrote down in our note books A.C.E., which means to answer the question, citing evidence with a quote or paraphrase, and explain how your citation answers the question. Then, we checked out School Trip, and after that we had to think about what some parenting advice your parents give you that is similar to Jordan and his mom. We walked into class, and Ms. Nakada played a video with horses and was laughing hysterically. Ryan whispered to me, and then she started to laugh until I got what she was talking about. Jackson read his blog. Then, we all corrected it. He chose me. Then, Ms. Nakada told us to write stuff down about our reading history. Of course, Zack was trying to figure out a name of a mouse. It was named Geronimo, and he was expecting someone to guess.
We listened to a song called "Redemption Song." We talked a little bit about the first lyrics being about slavery and how bad it was. Zack and Jackson got called on and didn't know the answer, so they sat there confused. Zack got called on again and this time, he got it right. Jackson said school or the classroom was jail and NOT one lie was told. We talked about how jail people are smart, and then someone said they were depressed (I think it was Stuart).
Ms. Nakada was scolding a student for reacting to annoying behavior Lucas was bothering someone which isn't surprising since he did run someone over then got told to stop then Ryan chuckled at me for looking at her then looked me up and down Ms. Nakada explained tomorrow's schedule and what we were gonna do and how much time we have.
We got an option to take the test today or tomorrow. Then, we packed up, and Ryan kept looking at me and fixing her braces. Sandra started to do her makeup, and then the period was over.

Zack suddenly started rubbing Vaseline on his face. I decided I should mind my own business and started writing my blog. Ms. Nakada told us to get our notebooks out. Our class wrote down different parts of Grammar. We talked about the word abolitionist, and that if slaves knew how to read and write, they could escape whatever farm or prison they are being held at. Ms. Nakada then talked about the book, Class Act. We then got our chrome books out and took a Quiz about School Trip, pages 1-99. Everyone finished the Quiz, and we packed up. That's all for today.
