HW: Start thinking about an Original Oratory!
We started off class by taking a minute. Lucas and Malakai then read their blog and picked us. After the blog, we listened to the song, "Everybody's Free (to wear sunscreen)" by Baz Luhrmann. Then, we talked about what the song was about, the tone and our favorite lyric. Next, we did lines, which was from the play A Midsummer Nights Dream. Ms. Nakada went over some of the lines from the play and what they mean. She read from her Shakespeare book and Lucas was Lysander, while Demitrius was Demitrius. Then, Ms. Nakada told people to get into their groups so they could work on their poems for the poetry slam. We moved back to our regular seats, and then George and Kaiden read their poems. Ms. Nakada talked about the guidelines for the Original Oratory every eighth grader has to write, and ways you can become a speaker or singer at graduation. Then, the bell rang and we packed up.
