Week 16 Quiz

Poetry Gallery Walk

We started off class by watching the take a minute video and then reading Zoe and Ryan's blog. They then picked me to do the next blog so I asked Nylah to do it with me and she said yes. Then we took out our English notebooks and got ready for the quiz. Once we got done with the quiz people were just finishing their poetry collections. We did that for the rest of class. Till we had to do our gallery walks and I was printing and typing the rest of my poetry collection I don't want ANYONE reading mine. Then the bell rang and we went to lunch.

Week 16: Song/lines

HW: NaPo WriMo Submissions due May 8th

After Aiden read his blog, he decided to pick Ryan and I to do the next blog. After that, we did or Week 16 Song called "Keep Ya Head Up" by Tupac Shakur which was about guiding women and moms. And also questioning men on why they treat women the way they do. We then started talking about mothers day and how we should be kind to the kids and women in our life because you never know what they are going through. We then start doing our lines and we read the poem "Learning to Love America" by Shirley Geok-Lin Lim. Which was about how it's hard to love a country. And then, for some reason we started talking about how we eat artichokes and how good they are. When talking about the lines, Demetrius walked past Ryan and I. Demetrius then said, "Look at RyRy and Zozo." Ryan then fist bumped Demitrious and I thought they were so cool. I then flexed my money at Jackson. After that, we talked about what the Poem was about. We then started to work on our NaPoWriMo submissions. That's it for today!

NaPoWriMo Submissions

Poetry Slam May 12th

We walked into class after period 3 left, and sat in our seats. As we started writing our agendas, Ms. Nakada put on the Take a Minute, which was comparing challenges to waves (I think.). After taking a minute, Lena read her blog and picked me because someone told her to. Once I walked up, Ms. Nakada told us the question, and we wrote down our personal answers before discussing. We started talking about our answers, and Ms. Nakada made a comparison between Her and Mr. Hastings, and how their moral compasses are different. After we Discussed, we started our NaPoWriMo submissions, and people started working. I finished my Poetry Collection last week, so I'm just doing my broadside now, and my poetry performance I guess. It's a short day today, so I'm ending the blog here, and the bell is about to ring.

I choose Kate, or whoever the class picks to go that hasn't gone yet.

Week 16: grammar - quote

NaPoWriMo Submissions

Ms. Nakada began class with a take a minute, and then we skipped Blog reading and wrote in our note books. We wrote down two grammar words. The words were "poetry", and "revisions".

After that, Ms. Nakada gave us the quote of the week. This quote was written by Fred Korematsu. She told us about how Fred got arrested, and more of his story. She explained how he wrote this poem about his life story. She states that he is a Japanese American activist. This quote means that you should stand up for what you know is right, even if others don't believe the same thing.

Ms. Nakada showed us how to do our Broadside poem. Then, she gave us quiet time for us to work on the project. I finished the project, and I think I did pretty well. After we did that, she told us to begin packing up and cleaning up. That was the end of class today.

NaPoWriMo: Day 29

NaPoWriMo submissions

HW Read and write a poem a day@

We started off the day by Stuart and Bennet reading their blog, and Ms. Nakada kept telling Bennet to stop hitting Stuart. We then jumped into catching up on our poems. Then, moving on to the paper, we worked on the day before about "There Are Birds Here" by Jamal May. Next, we worked on "Hope" by Emily Dickinson. Then, Solomon told Ms. Nakada he was going to cry. After that, we started a plan to write an essay about if we should or shouldn't keep poetry in school. Finally, we stapled our papers together 👽
